Brief Description
This is a course aimed at learners with some previous knowledge of silversmithing who are looking to explore more advanced techniques. The techniques covered in this course will be blocking and raising (used to make vessels), Forging (used to make cutlery, bangles and curtain ends etc…) and fold forming (widely used in jewellery). We will predominantly be working in copper as it has similar properties to silver at a fraction of the cost.  Learners will be encouraged to purchase some tools relevant to there chosen specialism but suppliers and tools will be discussed as the course progresses. Sketch book and note books will be needed for designing and taking note on technical demonstrations. 

Learning outcome :
To learn a series of silversmithing techniques that can be applied to jewellery or tableware

Extra costs on the course :
The £15 fee will cover copper and consumables used over the course but does not include silver, silver will be ordered at a later date in conjunction with what the student wishes to make and a fee for this will be payable directly to the Tutor.

Note/sketch Pad and pencil.

A series of samples
