Brief Description
This course is suitable for beginners or people with previous experience with the material. Students will be taught how to solder, pierce, form and finish metal. These skills can then be transferred into making finished items of either jewellery or tableware (napkin rings etc…)  We will predominantly be working in copper as it has similar properties to silver, but will move on to using silver towards the end of the course if people so wish.

Learning outcome :
To learn a series of silversmithing techniques that can be applied to jewellery or tableware

Extra costs on the course :
The £28 covers the cost of a starter kit for each student which includes a piercing saw and blades, a nylon hammer, solder, reversible tweezers and wet and dry. This will be ordered after the first session to account for people who may have some of the equipment. Purchasing the starter kit ensures that during the sessions students are not waiting to share equipment.  The £15 fee will cover copper and consumables used over the course but does not include silver, silver will be ordered at a later date in conjunction with what the student wishes to make and a fee for this will be payable directly to the Tutor.

What you need to bring to the first session :
Note/sketch Pad and pencil.

How progress & success will be recorded :
A series of samples
