Introduction to Creative Embroidery

Brief Description
This five week course is aimed at those who have dabbled in the field of creative embroidery over a number of years and are experienced in free machine embroidery.   This series of workshops will teach you how to extend your skills to include hand embroidery and some mixed media techniques. 

Learning outcome :
Students will re-enforce their existing skills and progress to an advanced level of competence in creative embroidery

Extra costs on the course :
There will be a cost of £6.00 to cover hard to find materials.

What you need to bring to the first session :
Sewing machine – cleaned and oiled.  Please ensure that it is PAT TESTED.
Spare pkt. of sewing machine needles – size 90 or top-stitch 90
Small selection of machine and hand embroidery threads to a chosen colour scheme.
8/10” Wooden Embroidery Frame, with inner ring bound
Four pieces of coloured cotton fabric, big enough to fit generously in your frame.
Half metre of calico
1 metre of water soluble fabric (your choice)
Apron & rubber gloves
Large piece of plastic to cover your working area.
Basic sewing Kit
Notebook and Pen

How progress & success will be recorded :
Students progress will be noted and photographed by tutor.

On completion of the course, what might your next steps be :
On completion of the course, students will be competent enough to work on own initiative and experienced enough to join textile art groups.
