Brief Description & learning outcome :
The aim of the course is to equip students with the theoretical knowledge to put into practice on a seaborne course leading to a Day Skipper Certificate.  The course covers an introduction to navigation theory, basic meteorology, safety and seamanship.  There are two assessment papers (1) chartwork (2) general assessment paper which covers all the other aspects of the syllabus.
Suitable for beginners and people with little or no experience in cruising yachts or motor cruisers.

How progress & success will be recorded :
Students are supplied with sets of exercises from the RYA plus supplementary work from the tutor, two charts, practice navigation tables and the RYA course notebook.  Other books and publications are also recommended during the course.
