Location : Cottenham Village College Day : Wednesday Time : 7.00-9.00pm Weeks : 5 Price : £45(f)/£34(r) Brief Description This course is designed to give you the confidence and knowledge needed to handle the most common bike maintenance tasks. You will build your confidence which will help to prevent problems and ensure that your bike is in good working order. This is a practical course where you will work on your own bike. Expect to get your hands dirty whilst having fun!! There will be a maximum of 8 learners in each class ensuring that every individual learner will get quality attention. By the end of the 5 week course you will be able to maintain and be riding a more efficient machine! Previous knowledge & experience required : This course is designed to teach the basic maintenance skills needed so no experience necessary. Learning outcome : By the end of the 5 week course you will have the opportunity to: 1. Set up your bike and perform quick safety checks 2. Adjust your brakes, Replace brake blocks and replace cables (Please note: Mountain bike owners- hydrolic disk brakes not applicable.) 3. Fix a puncture and change a tyre 4. Adjust gears 5. Chains: Remove, Clean and Lubricate using a chain tool. Other topics that will be covered if time is available: Hub bearings- service and adjust and Freewheel removal Extra costs on the course : A set of Allen Keys, an adjustable spanner (or an 8mm, 9mm, 10mm, 15mm and 17mm spanner), Tyre levers, Puncture repair kit, 1 or 2 old rags and a pair of suitable gloves that you do not mind getting dirty! The tutor will advise you about the purchase of tools at the first session. What you need to bring to the first session : Note pad, Spanner & Allen Keys.
